About

We Sing U Sing was created to bring the fun activity of singing back to the community. Our innovative programmes have been designed to bring people who would not otherwise have the opportunity or access to a structured singing programme in touch with their own musical instrument, their voice.

We Sing U Sing does exactly what it says. We sing and U sing with us. Our tutors are experienced musicians and singers who work as professionals in the music industry, both in the UK and abroad.

As well as working as professional musicians, they have also undertaken training as educators and work throughout the education sector, polishing their skills to the level whereby they are able to conduct 10 – 13 week music education courses, designed to bring out the best in their students.

We Sing U Sing was created by John Fisher, a professional drummer who has been playing since he was 11 years old.  Now into his forties, John is the founder and director of IDMC, the gospel choir who have performed for many dignitaries and well known celebrities, including Luciano Pavarotti, Jimmy Saville, Dustin Hoffman and Gerri Halliwell.  Most recently they were asked to perform at the memorial of Body Shop creator Anita Roddick.

John has his roots in the community.  He has worked with other UK based organisations and has taught in schools for the past six years, organising and teaching choirs of people from primary school age to pensioners. To date, John has worked in projects with upwards of 10,000 participants.  Successfully teaching, rehearsing and conducting choirs in prestigious venues including, Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Goldsmiths College.

Always striving for progress in music education, John identified a gap in music education and teaching within certain areas and decided to form the We Sing U Sing project to plug that gap.

Using his experience and knowledge he identified the higher level of achievement, discipline and self esteem particularly achieved by students in his singing classes at both the primary and secondary level. This raising of standards did not solely apply to his singing classes, but as reported by many teachers and head teachers, it occurred across the board in other areas as well.

We Sing U Sing believe that creating, rehearsing and performing music through singing can help to achieve improvements in a person’s self esteem, no matter the age, ethnicity or  status.  It is our belief also that we can bring about cohesion in our communities, no matter how diverse in nature through a common goal.

This is what makes We Sing U Sing programmes so unique. Our smaller performances help to build confidence and promote achievement and satisfaction amongst our participants.  Our larger shows combine all age groups and abilities and leave participants with lifetime memories of performing in large prestigious venues.

Our aim is to ‘Get Everyone Singing…’
